About Me
I am an LMFT residing in Los Angeles and I practice in Sherman Oaks. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from UCLA and my Masters in Psychology from Phillips Graduate Institute. I specialize in the treatment of complex trauma and have over 10 years of clinical experience as well as specialized training. I am fluent in Spanish and have worked closely with the Latinx population. I am trained in levels 1 and 2 of EMDR (see more here) from the EMDR Institute and I am currently working on becoming EMDR certified. I also have experience with Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and am trained in Trauma-Focused Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
I mostly work with a diverse clientele of young to middle-aged adults and Teens who have recently experienced a traumatic event or are seeking to work through childhood or earlier traumas. I have worked with the wide spectrum of trauma and utilize effective trauma treatments, such as EMDR to help my clients heal and find peace and freedom within themselves. My style is compassionate, collaborative, trauma informed, client centered and tailored to fit the individual needs of each and every client. I believe in the importance of treating the mind, body, soul, and spirit because our entire being is affected by the impact of trauma.
Before private practice, I worked as a therapist and contractor in the community mental health world at several nonprofit mental health agencies in the SFV providing intensive therapy. I mostly worked with Teens and their families and children ages 6-12. My past experience includes providing in-home and school based therapy, advocacy, and crisis management to those struggling with chronic mental illness, and who were identified to be from populations that were underserved and at-risk. I have experience treating people from many different backgrounds and cultures but have worked especially close with the Latinx community in the treatment of trauma.
I believe in the importance of providing my clients with culturally competent services and understanding my clients’ cultural, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds. I am sensitive to and increasingly aware of the stressful and traumatic consequences related to racial inequity and abuse as well as oppression. Providing you with a safe place to explore issues related to your background and identity is vital. As your therapist, it is my job to learn, provide a container for the discussion of such issues, and meet you with awareness and support.
When I’m not holding space for clients, you can find me practicing yoga and Pilates, reading, cooking, spending time with my adorable dog, Kingston and traveling near and far on my time off.
